The traditional means of an applicant sending their resume to an employer is quickly becoming a thing of the past. Companies are increasing looking at LinkedIn and other social media sites as a preferred method to recruit potential employees. Applicant tracking systems are becoming increasingly sophisticated and at weeding out candidates based on algorithms.
It is interesting to see candidates as well are using savvy techniques to promote and differentiate themselves by use of inforgraphics and electronic “video resumes” posted on YouTube.
And an astonishing 89% of employers said they would watch a video resume. It indicates an applicant is more inclined to think ‘outside of the box’, and it will demonstrate some of their various capabilities.
